I don’t know about you but 2009 was not a great year for us. It seemed more depressed than other years. Maybe it was the economy. Maybe it was just the negative energy or fear emitting from our friends and family and us as well. Maybe everyone watched a little too much TV and all the Oh my God the sky is falling news. Whatever it is or was that caused this depressed mood has got to stop. We choose not to participate anymore.
Enough whining already, 2010 will be different.

We have a plan.
We are going to drink our way across North Carolina!
You know, I know we make traveling look very easy, but it is really hard work on Janet’s part to think of a new place to go every weekend.
To be honest with you there aren’t that many cool places we haven’t already seen around here. What was missing in 2009 was a structured plan.
Apparently just winging it when the weekend arrives doesn’t work for us, and somebody ends up spending the entire Saturday on the couch in her jammies
So here’s the deal: We got this map, Discover North Carolina Wines, it has 90 wineries across the great North State. We intend to visit and drink wine from each one of them in 2010.
Oh but this is so much more than wine drinking. This is an opportunity to visit small towns and really off the beaten path places throughout the state. I always say every town has a story and Janet says every town has a shopportunity.

I had an idea while visiting a winery this past weekend. It was that each winery should have a patch or a pin with their logo on it so that people can collect one from every winery in the state.
Janet decided that it would be better to create a passport booklet (She is calling it her Drinkin Journal) for us to take to each winery and then we can take notes about the wines we like, the people we meet and the stories we hear.
I like the patch or pin idea but Janet wants to know what I would attach all of them to? She made some reference to me getting a Girl Scout Sash. I think I will just have someone sign the map to verify our visit or take a picture with them instead.
